After breakfast, depart Arusha for Ndutu, a scenic drive of approximately 260 km taking around 5.5 hours. En route, pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the landscape transforms from lush highland forests into vast open plains and rolling grasslands stretching towards the Serengeti.

Arrive in Ndutu, a key destination for the Great Wildebeest Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles gather seasonally. During the calving season, typically from December to April, the nutrient-rich plains become a nursery for newborn wildebeest, attracting predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of these remarkable wildlife encounters, with the Ndutu and Masek lakes providing additional opportunities for wildlife viewing.

The scenic drive of approximately 75 km to the crater rim takes around 2.5 hours, with chances to spot wildlife along the way. Upon arrival, take in the breathtaking views of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later, check in at your lodge, enjoy dinner, and relax as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Start your final safari day early with breakfast before descending into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater at around 6:30 a.m. Known as the world’s largest intact, unfilled volcanic caldera, the crater boasts a spectacular landscape and remarkable wildlife diversity.

Enjoy a 5–6-hour game drive across the crater floor, searching for iconic African wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, lions, and, with luck, cheetahs. Pause for a picnic lunch near the scenic hippo pool before ascending the crater walls and beginning your journey back to Arusha, approximately four hours away.

Arrive in Arusha in the evening for drop-off at your preferred location or transfer to the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable Great Wildebeest Migration Calving Season Safari.
